Easter egg hunting


“Come on Cadramon” Ember said, turning her head around while she ran out of their room. Cadramon quickly unfolded his wings and caught up to his partner. “So, we find this egg that’s hidden, and then what?” Ember had reached the grass outside and was taking in the nature around her. “We get whatever is inside” she said with a big smile, then moved to look at some bushes. “Are you going to get a new partner?” Cadramon said with an unsure voice. Ember looked at him with an amused look. “No of course not silly”. She smiled, and strokes his head. “The egg will most likely be filled with candy. If we can find it, the candy will be ours”. “Really?” Cadramon asked, excitement lighting up his face. “Yeah. Now come on” his partner grinned, and headed for another bush a little further off. This time Cadramon wiggled his way under. “I can’t find any” he said as he scrambled back out. “If I were to hid something” Ember said out loud to herself, “I would most likely hide it in a place where there would be multiple places to look, so that it’ll take longer for someone else to find it”. Cadramon let his gaze wander until he spotted something. “Like a forest?” he asked, his tail pointing towards the cluster of countless trees. “Like a forest” Ember replied, and stated to jog towards it.


“Maybe it’s behind here” she mumbled to herself as she got down on her knees, looking behind a bush that was very close to a tree. “Ember” Cadramon said, looking down from the top of the tree behind her that he was currently in. “We have been looking for a long time now. At least two hours, maybe close to three. Shouldn’t we go back and get something to eat?” “But what if it’s under bush number three from here, or in the next three?” “What if it’s under bush number 33? Or tree number 75?” Cadramon asked, flying back down. “But I really wanted to find it since you’ve never had an Easter egg before”. Cadramon rubbed his head against her arm and looked up at her. “We can come back later and look after dinner. Collapsing won’t do you any good. I’d rather you have strength to walk back home than to find something that can’t run away”. “Ok” Ember replied, feeling a bit disappointed. As Ember reached towards the tree for support to get up, she let out a startled sound as she started falling towards the ground. Cadramon wrapped his tail around her arm, hindering her fall, but Ember only stared wide eyed at her hand. Or, her missing arm. “What the” “That’s a hiding tree” Cadramon said before his partner could finish her sentence. “What?” Ember asked, looking at him, eyes still wide. “If you know were one is, you can use it to quickly hide away from someone. Here, I’ll show you” he said, and placed his hind foot through the bark. Ember took her hand out and Cadramon released the grip on her arm. “Can I look inside?” she asked. Seeing how it wouldn’t take long, and as it might make up for the disappointment of not finding the egg,  Cadramon agreed. “Sure”. Ember let her hand pass through the bark again, followed by the rest of her body, Cadramon following right behind. “Wow. Cool and weird” she said as she took in the view from the inside. “Ember?” Cadramon asked in a curious voice. “What?” she said as she looked down. There, on the floor of the hiding tree, was a round, yellow egg. “The egg!” Ember almost yelled in happiness. “I guess that answers my question” Cadramon joked. Ember opened it up to reveal several pieces of chocolate. Cadramon took in the sweet scent. “Let’s eat it back at camp so we can enjoy the sun”. “Race you” Ember replied, and sprinted out of the hiding tree.
